Face of our "invisible" enemy

Dear Dad and those who suffer from hay fever...

As you all know, hay fever is caused by the body immune system reacting to the pollen. Chemicals such as histamine is released when there's contact with pollen and this causes red eyes and blocked nose. Recently a Swiss artistic scientist named Martin Oeggerli used a scanning electron microscope (SEM.. haven't heard about it since the BIOL111 in HSFY back in 2003) to capture images of pollen grains. To me, they are beautiful, but yet looks horribly "lethal".

Upto almost the half of Kiwis suffer from hay fever. Thankfully my body isn't "sensitive" enough to recognise pollen and react to it... haha. On the other hand, somebody who shall not be named, gets hay fever even if he stays at home all the time during the season. Hmmm hmmm.

Here are the invisible enemies behind the beauty...

Willow Flower

Birch Trees - known to be one of the most infamous allergenic plants. Apparently in average about 15-20% of hay fever sufferers are sensitive to it. Birth trees release their pollen between September and November, hence the worst symptoms around October

Pistia (Water cabbage)

Pine trees

Forget-me-not. This flower has one of the smallest known grains of pollen; just five one-thousandths of a millimetre in diameter - hard to imagine! Flowers look gorgeous!

pikachu kyat

Awwwww so cute!!
This Pikachu cat is apparently the real cat with photoshop (im hoping that it's photoshoped rather than dyed at  the cat-salon).  If there is a Pikachu cat then would there be a Raichu cat? lol
Wish I can throw a fur-ball to him. Then maybe he'd say "Pika pika" lol.

Oooooo Ahhhhh Eeeeeeeeeeee!!! *with background music from X-Files*

It's Halloween today...
Who would've imagined me giving Halloween a second thought??
All I do is buying lollies just in case kids in the neighbour hood knock on the door and say "trick or treat". Usually I end up finishing them though.

But this year one of the staff in clinic has been infatuating all of us to be in the Halloween mood. I even brought an evil-faced pumpkin basket full of minty Mentos to work...

Anyways... I just randomly found the following pictures on the Google website. Normally.. the letters G, O, O , G, L and E are nicely decorated but this time... I can't find all of them in one picture?? Is that the point? I don't get this thing. Are they searching for those alphabets? How silly....and stupid. The only Scooby Doby thing that I like is... the Scooby Doby Do ride in Movie World. The rest? Rubbish......

Anyways. Can you interpret what's happening here?

A new trend

There might be a possible new trend in wedding - brides wearing a bridal diaper!
Sounds horrendous doesn't it... apparently, many brides-to-bes who never heard of such a thing go into the bridal shop, gets surprised to hear how many they sell, and more surprisingly, they come out with it!!

Seriously? Haven't you learnt to go and peepee before you go out or giving a performance or something in your kindergarten? Plus, I reckon I won't be able to eat/drink anything before the wedding anyways.. if there's nothing in your digestive system.. then...?? Just make sure you empty it beforehand!!

Oh hmmhmm but then.. it seems like those who would consider a diaper for their important day have a very big grandeur wedding gown..? Oh I want I want too haha. I heard that it can take more than 20minutes for you to get into the dress! Wow...

In conclusion, no matter how trendy that'd be.. it's quite a big turn off for my liking.... wearing beautiful white wedding gown and other gorgeous accessories with diapers underneath?? I think I'll pass....

Will you ever consider wearing a diaper to your wedding?

Big heart that we can land on

05.03.10

While I was going through my photo collections on my comp, I found a small clip of many hearts. One of the pictures were a heart shaped island. This triggered my silly random curiosity... and straight away there I was googling to see if that island actually exists in the real world. You know, nowadays, the computer graphic tech is so great it's behond my imagination. Anything can be created. Even I can look like a hawt sexy model if photoshop is used.... (small sigh from my end) :(

And there it was! Actually, I found two "heart" islands!

Lovers Island in Croatia

One is located in the Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Croatia..It's called the island of Galesnjak, but now renamed Lovers' Island. It is privately owned desered island and apparently, the owner will make the island available to couples older than 16. (pre-16s know what love is??? Gosh they are so advanced compared to my time...)
OK. Maybe that island is a bit too far away for me us to visit. But the next one...? Can be done!!

Australian Heart Reef, Australia

In my opinion, this beautiful island looks more like a heart - just because, it's somewhere close by and it's in Australia! Gosh since when have I been so much in love with this country... must not forget that I'm still a Kiwi. Anyways... it's called the Australian Heart Reef, a coral reef which is part of the Great Barrier Reef of the Whitsundays, near Hamilton Island, QLD. Oh I remember now that's where my friend went for her honeymoon!! Ooooh got to check this place out. Will dedicate one of my entries to this topic if I fall in love with the place... :)
So which island do you think most closely resembles a heart?..

ps darling ive found a big hearted island that we can land on...! well done ya? *pat pat*
