with Jason and Erika

Pancakes on Rocks

I was there with my good good friend Jason and his gf, Erika. Man, finally I got to meet her, after years of anticipation!

Erika and Jason

Erika and I both ordered Chicken and mushroom crepes - yumyum!

Chicken and muchroom crepes - Creamy chicken and mushroom, topped with a crunchy coating of parmesan cheese

It was served with their special tomato sauce and sour cream. Sour cream.... wasn't their special, it was just an ordinary sour cream but I thought tomato sauce was a bit different. It was a bit more "chewier" than the normal sauce. I quite liked it.

Jason had the fresh mushroom crepes - whereas my crepes was slightly grilled, his wasn't - it looked very nice. Last time I was there with another friend and I remember that it did not taste like vegetarians dish. I really liked their basil cream sauce! (food is all about sauces)

Our dessert was awesome - I was never a big fan of grilled bananas but this was nice! Even picky Jason (sorry!) enjoyed it very much (I think) hahaha. It was so good to catch up with them despite the rush of catching bus due to the trackwork. Times like this I really miss my Dunedin life. It is getting more and more difficult to make good friends as I'm getting older - we all have our own circle of friends. I wish in the future I can live closer to my good good friends and have the reunion often. There's nothing like having good old friends around you!

Mini's day out!

After a long time contemplating whether I should take him out or not, I decided to take Mini to our date. He has been a groomy boy recently, I thought I should let him get some fresh air, though most of the times he was inside the bag surrounded by blankies!

We had dinner at Lowenbrau, Rocks, CBD. Lovely atmosphere, lovely beer, lovely food, lovely companion!!!

My bridesmaid San

Yes... my bridesmaid loves drinking (sorry!)

Me!

We were having a blast taking photos and reading menu..(silly menu with all the German words) then suddenly, Mini popped from San's side! How did he get there!!

Mini's entrance to the scene

San and Mini

Mini has started charming San... hehe

Then our drinks have arrived....

Oooo I've never seen this at home.. what's this??

Oooo bad bad timing the drinks came too quick before Mini got into the bag! So I had to distract him.  He was climbing onto me to whisper...  can I try???? And my answer was NO, obviously.

Good. Dinner came and San and I ate in peace. Mini was back inside the bag.

Hühnchenschnitzel - crisp chicken schnitzel served with french fries and Lowenbrau's special herb mayonnaise

Jägerschnitzel - chicken schnitzel on mashed potatoes, topped with mushroom sauce and served with a side salad

Great meal, great conversation... then Mini unzipped the bag himself and jumped onto the table. Hmm what is this I wonder?!?!!?!!!

Hmmmm maybe it wasn't such a good idea to take him out. I quickly picked him up and took a photo. OK! now let's go home...

Say cheese!

He took this as a souvenir from the restaurant...

I'm going to show this to Bori and Pekpek he said

Excited Mini!

Once again, I can't believe what I did...... I must be going crazy! My ♥ for Bluebears are growing bigger and bigger. What to do!?

nice catch up

Had a great fun with Mei-Ting today. Thanks to her lovely company my evening was well entertained. Dinner was at the Chopsticks restaurant in Fendalton. The area is much more crowded than last time I was here.. Guess there aren't that many places to go for dine out huh.. Well not that the food is bad. It was quite good I must say.

Sizzling tofu

Chicken with garlic and spring onions

Don't they look so delicious?? As soon as the plates came out there were a bunch of Koreans saying "omg those look so much nicer than what we ate!! what's that??" As a fellow Korean I feel for them. I know what they mean because when I go to Chinese restaurants I also have problem ordering... Just imagine, those who have no idea what 짜장면 is, if they just look at the description saying noodles, veges, seafood mixed with black sauce... would they know how it looks/tastes like? Geez.

So I told them that we have ordered. They were shocked because I spoke to them.. Yeah I still have no idea who they are. How rude to talk about other people's dishes so loudly! No etiquette man.

Anyways ya they should feel jealous of what was on our table, it was very delicious.. Yum yum!! And we had a very good catch up :) :) More to come when I return!!!

Adorable!

Sydney life.

After a long day out with make ups, massages and shopping, I landed in city with two of my besties for dinner at Wagamama. Initially we were wanting to have Ichiban Boshi but it was too packed. At the end, no regret choosing Wagamama for our dining experience thanks to Sansan!

For the entree, we had tori karaage. You know, tori as in bird (of course here it means chicken) and Karaage (deep fried), it's self explanatory. I felt a bit like "alcohol-ish" and saw the phrase 'prepared with sake' hence the order but.............. my blunt dull tastebuds couldn't pick up any sakeness from it.

For the mains, Joe had teriyaki steak soba - Nice!  Unlike others even the soba tasted so good, definitely more than just the noodle. I think they must've marinated the soba for quite some time. It had that "deep" teriyaki taste embedded in it. The plate had lotsa veges - baby bokchoy, red onions, snow peas, beansprouts, chillies and coriander. Quite healthy too.

Joe with his main and cocktail - haamonii pure shochu with passionfruit juice and freshly crushed pineapple

San and I had the chilli chicken ramen - it was all good apart from the fact that it wasn't chilli at all. I wished they didn't chop up the bean sprouts too much as it looked like chopped noodle. I prefer it to maintain its long and slender figure just like how I wanna look........... hmmmm getting side tracked again here.

Chilli chicken ramen

Like I mentioned earlier I was feeling very slightly "alchol-ish"... to satisfy the craving my choice of the cocktail was Squeezed apple and lemon smash cocktail. It sounds like a juice doesn't it... ya... it was juice. There was no EtOH I don't think...... But there was definitely freshly crushed apple - very rare to find in cocktail. Yumyum!!  On the menu it said, this cocktail is certain to leave you wanting more ............... yeah. To taste more alcohol!!!

Squeezed apple and lemon smash - immersed with zubrowka vodka, freshly crushed apple and lemon

San's one was passionfruit mojito. I quite didn't get to taste it actually!! (San san did you know?!!?!?) I was so hungry by the time the food has come to the table all my devoted attention was towards my food.............. and by the time I realised that I haven't tasted her cocktail, it was all consumed by her. Hahaha. It looked really nice, and the menu said, this cocktail is certain to make you feel the passion. Hmm I wonder if she really felt the passion. If you think this menu is a bit cheesy, you haven't heard everything... as the picture sows it, Joe's one is called Pure Japanese Passion, and it read, this cocktail will leave you feeling truly zen................. really?? If a total state of focus that combines a total togetherness of body and mind can really be felt by drinking this cocktail... I bet ya I will be here everyday drinking it. It'd make me reach the enlightenment earlier than my dad, whom is trying very hard so he can be there after going through lots more reincarnated lives.

Passionfruit Mojito

The food was great but the highlight of the today is.... this!!

Hahahahahahaha
I'm totally banned from putting this up on fb so here it is on my blog. Do we look like Alaskan ladies? I'm cracking up as I look at this photo... this surely will stay very valuable and non-deletable for us for a long long time!!

Ori gui

Yay I met up with Nika, Sue and Taehwan aka the Lee siblings for dinner tonight. This occasion was to farewell Nika who will be off to Korea and Europe for a few months..... lucky her. Wish I can fly off to Korea and Europe too. Hopefully my turn isn't too far away.

We went to this place called Toseung in North Strathfield. It is relatively new and the setting was quite neat. One of the common and the most important rules for the successful business in dental clinics and restaurants are that they have to give customers/patients a positive first impression.. and this place was good at it.  Everything is nicely decorated with wood and modern Korean atmosphere was good. Oh the suction was so awesome I didn't smell a thing when I went in!! (Perhaps because there wasn't many people at the restaurant yet???)

We ordered half a duck and 2x beef ribs which came with complimentary side dishes. It was enough for us so I did not get to find out whether it is refillable or not. They gave us 동치미, which is white kimchi in cold water. Oooo havn't had that for ages. Yumyum!!

We grill the raw meat on the charcoal fire, which supposedly tastes better. The reason being that when charcoal burns, it creates infrared lights which has higher heat energy (physics anyone?). This means that the infrared lights will make sure the meat gets cooked well rather than getting burnt on the outside. I don't know. I'm just blabbing. I don't know a jack about lights all I know is that charcoal can be quite useful when the fridge stinks. Also you can put it with the rice when it's cooking and it tastes better. So it must be good.

The meat came out and I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the quantity. All of us got quite full and it was the right amount that we ordered, but still, I raise my curiosity over the "half a duck".... maybe they used a duckling rather than a duck...?

Last time I tried ducks was when I was in Beijing a few years ago. We had the ORIGINAL Pekking ducks and received the certificate saying we've eaten the 71943790th duck since the restaurant was opened. (Geez not sure if that's for real).... Anyways the taste of BBQed duck was quite different from that of Pekking ducks'.... it tastes like.................. err............................HAM. Yeah. Ham....  very fine soft tender juicy ham unlike the ones you get from Wollies. It was yummy.. better than lamb!!!  I forgot that I am supposed to go on a diet for a while.. This is why it will never work for me... *touch wood*

Oh man I'm so full.. It's been 3 hours since I've eaten but still I'm very full. Luckily tomorrow's my off day I can stay up a bit longer to cool my tummy down. Arghhh all those times I tried to shrink my tummy... I think it's regrown back to its original size........ but no regret. I live to eat not vice versa!!
